This 8-Frame clearer board is used to remove most of the bees from a super before extracting.  Prior to extracting, place the clearer board between the super and, say, the brood box.  Overnight most of the bees will have moved down to the box below leaving the super mostly empty of bees and easier to remove the frames for extracting.

Slotted Bottom Board

The 8-frame slotted bottom board is placed between the base and the brood box.  The large piece of wood at the front enables the bees to better protect the entrance against robber bees and other pests.  The slats over the remainder of the bottom board allows the bees to keep the colony at a more even temperature over winter and thus winter brood numbers are higher coming into spring and less winter honey is required to keep the colony warm.
