SMOKERS:

A beekeeper's smoker is a device that is used to calm bees by interfering with their alarm pheremones. It generates smoke (thus how it got its name) from the smouldering fuel inside the barrel, and is essential part of the beekeepers kit to allow the manipulation of honey bees. There are 3 main parts to the smoker that are common in all styles; bellows; barrel and a heat shield. The funnel shape can vary and the internal devise to raise the fuel can also be different. There are three styles available (each with two sizes) to choose between- select from the drop down to see the matching picture.

BEECO

Made in Victoria, Australia of high quality stainless steel, this is has been a firm favourite within the Australian Beekeeping community for many years. A medium sized smoker which measures 11cm in diameter x 27cm high. Perfect for both the hobbiest and the commercial beekeeper. The external heat shield offers protection to the beekeeper from the hot smoker when it is alight and there is a convenient thumb ring to open the lid of the unit. The smoker comes with good quality bellows. The Classic Australian Smoker.

AMERICAN STYLE

An American designed smoker with a cone shape head. The barrel has an internal removable grate that elevated the fuel from the bottom to allow better smouldering. Stainless steel smoker with heat shield and hook on the front to hang on hive when not in use.

Comes in large and medium.

The large size allows the smoker to hold a lot of fuel, thus ensuring that the smoker will produce smoke for long periods. The large size is ideal for the beekeeper with a larger number of hives to manage and measures 12cm diameter by 33cm height. The medium size is ideal for the hobbiest beekeeper and measures 10cm x 25cm.

EUROPEAN STYLE

Made of high quality stainless steel, this smoker has European style domed lid and welded snout. The specially designed internal stove allows the fuel to remain smouldering longer and with less effort from the beekeeper. The external shield offers protection to the beekeeper from the hot smoker when it is alight. A convenient hook on the front allows the smoker to be hooked onto the beehive box when not in use, thus making it readily available when required. The smoker comes with good quality bellows.

Available in large and medium. The large measures 10cm x 30.5cm, the medium measures 10cm across x 25cm in height. A remove internal grate allows for good aeration of fuel to allowing it to remain smoldering longer and with less effort from the beekeeper. The current stock of this type of smoker have yellow vinyl bellows.
